Triage your first audit
A practical pass through the Triage inbox the first time it's full — how to dismiss noise and promote what matters.
The first audit on a new store usually produces a long Triage list — often 50+ gaps. This guide walks through a focused pass so you finish with a short list of things to act on.
1. Sort by impact (the default)
Open Triage. Opportunities are presented one at a time, highest impact first — Accept or Dismiss each before moving on. Switch to List view (top left) to see everything at once.
2. Filter to one journey stage at a time
If you want to narrow down what you're triaging, navigate to Opportunities → New and filter by Page type or Journey stage. Pick one stage or page type to focus on. A full audit covering everything at once is overwhelming; one stage or page type at a time is tractable.

3. Per row, do exactly one of three things
For each opportunity, decide:
- Dismiss if it doesn't apply to your brand or category. Spar remembers dismissed opportunities and won't re-surface them.
- Accept if it's a real problem you want to track. Don't worry about whether you'll actually test it — just get it captured.
- Open the page preview if you can't tell from the title — see the opportunity highlighted on the actual page, then decide.
Resist the urge to read every opportunity deeply on a first pass. A 30-second decision per row is fine; you'll come back to the accepted ones with more care.
4. Stop when impact tapers
Look at the projected impact column. Once you've worked past the opportunities with meaningful impact and into the long tail, stop. Those opportunities won't disappear — they'll be there next time, and they'll re-rank if audits change.
A good outcome from a first triage pass is 5–15 promoted opportunities, not 50.
5. Re-rank the opportunities
Open Opportunities. Click Estimate impacts at the top to re-score everything against your latest analytics. Now the ranking reflects what those opportunities are actually worth, not just the gap impact you saw in Triage.
6. Pick the first 2-3 to act on
From the top of the Opportunities list, pick the first 2-3 to actually do something with this week:
- For obvious wins — promote to Fixes and ship.
- For uncertain bets — promote to Tests. See Run an A/B test end to end.
What to do with the rest
The rest sit in the Opportunities backlog. They're ranked, scored, and ready to revisit. After your first 2-3 are running you can come back and pick the next batch. Don't try to start everything at once — running fewer tests well beats running more tests poorly.
