Opportunities

Testable bets that bundle one or more related gaps into a single hypothesis you can act on.

An opportunity is a unit of work. It bundles one or more related gaps into a single hypothesis, attaches a design mockup of the proposed change, and gives you a one-click path to either an A/B test or a direct fix.

Opportunities ranked by projected gain.

Where opportunities come from

  • Promoted from a gap. From Triage, Pages, or Journey, you can click "Create opportunity" on any gap.
  • Generated automatically. After an audit, Spar bundles related high-impact gaps into opportunity drafts for you.
  • Created manually. Use the Create opportunity button on the Opportunities page if you want to track something Spar didn't surface.

Filtering the list

Use the controls at the top of the page to narrow the list:

  • Status tabs — New, Active, Assigned, Resolved, Archived.
  • Page type — show only opportunities that target a specific page type (e.g. Product, Collection, Homepage).
  • Journey stage — show only opportunities linked to a particular journey stage (e.g. Trust, Friction).
  • Search — free-text search across opportunity titles and hypotheses.
  • View toggle — switch between card view and table view.

Opportunity status

Opportunities move through these states:

  • New — drafts that haven't been acted on.
  • Active — promoted into a test or a fix that's in flight.
  • Assigned — claimed by a team member.
  • Resolved — completed (won, lost, or shipped).

You can also archive an opportunity if it's no longer relevant.

What's on an opportunity

  • Hypothesis — if/then/because statement.
  • Mockup preview — Spar's render of the proposed change.
  • Score — ICE, PIE, and PXL.
  • Projected gain — estimated revenue impact.
  • Linked gaps — the underlying gaps this opportunity is meant to address.
  • Assignment — owner and status.

What you do from here

  • Run as a test to push it into Tests.
  • Ship as a fix to push it into Fixes.
  • Add to a notebook to keep context with related findings.
  • Share with a stakeholder for review — see Sharing.

Recovery tiers and projected gain

Each opportunity's detail page shows a projected gain broken down by three recovery tiers:

  • Conservative — a cautious estimate assuming only partial improvement.
  • Moderate — a realistic middle-ground scenario.
  • Optimistic — the best-case outcome if the change performs well.

Click a tier to select it and see a detailed breakdown of how the projection is calculated, including which metrics contribute and where the numbers come from. The selected tier also sets the projected gain shown on the card.

Estimating impact

Use the Estimate impacts button at the top of the Opportunities list to re-score all opportunities against the latest analytics — useful right after connecting GA4 for the first time.
